JLG Industries lifts people up – literally. Celebrating 50 years, JLG is the world’s leading designer, manufacturer, and marketer of access equipment. We’re in Maryland at JLG’s headquarters, celebrating the company’s 50th anniversary.

After JLG founder John L. Grove left a successful crane manufacturing company that he co-founded, he learned of a pressing need for a machine that could safely and quickly lift workers in the air to perform construction and maintenance functions.

So in 1969, he pioneered the access industry from its early beginnings by manufacturing the first aerial work platform. With a crew of just 20 workers and a small metal fabrication shop in McConnellsburg, Pennsylvania, the first JLG aerial work platform was sold in 1970.

When Grove passed away in 2003, he left behind a legacy—a company that continues to expand into other global markets, developing innovative products and reaching out to help customers be more productive and work more safely.

Plus, JLG provides training on service, safety, and parts to effectively prepare someone before using any equipment. Construction site safety should always be top of mind, and at JLG, they provide everyone in the access industry with the courses they need to be well-informed and compliant.

Stay tuned as we learn more about this cutting-edge company, which produces everything from low-level, ladder replacement products, to the industry’s highest boom lifts at 185 feet—all of which provide safer access at all heights.
